Men and computers
Been off the air for over a week as the computer crashed. What did I do without it? Made everybody elses' life a misery!.....BUT
Spoke at Mandate [an annual men's conference held in Belfast]. Almost 2500 men come to worship, listen, interact and be impacted by God. What a day it was. Fantastic!
I know, I know, I was the speaker but it was brill anyway.
There is something dynamic when men sing and worship as men. I don't really understand it but it's different. Not better, different. Matbe it's the deep voices. Maybe it was Robin Mark! Maybe it's being out with other men, having craik and no agenda but meeting God.
600 came from across the water. Scots, English and Welsh. Maybe it was the unity. Maybe it was me, a card carrying charismatic, speaking in a den of serious evangelicals! It wouldn't have happened a few years ago. Things have changed, Thnaks to the committee for the honour.
Steve Murray of Behold Mime ministry did three mimes. The first one had me sobbing, the second made me laugh and the third made my spirit sing. This art form is a wonderful medium to communicate God's love. Real issues were tackled and lives were turned upside down.
Next year it's at the Oydessey Arena and we're goig for 4000 men. The speaker will be Erwin McManus, Mosaic Community, LA. He is one of the best communicators I have ever heard and will profoundly challange your presupositions. You must be there. I will. It restored my faith in men only stuff.

You are right there Paul.
I would challenge anyone to stand in the middle of 2500 men belting out "Be thou my vision" and not be completely and utterly bowled over. I stood with tears in my eyes and the hairs on my neck standing... Really powerful when men get together and worship.
Must be something to do with unity... eh?

Pastor Paul, your teaching on grace was so beautiful and colourful and saturated in truth. Thank you for helping me receive grace.
I am not a big conference lover but on Saturday it was not the size that was powerful but the intimacy and smallness of being men stripped naked of our religion and tradition left with nothing but our hands out to recieve the grace of God.
Thanks so much

Paul,
Your teaching on grace was very challenging and disturbing in the way it should be. Thanks also for the welcome three of us received at CFC on Sunday.
The ladies in our church have been minsitered to by the CDs of your addresses too.
As someone originally from a brethren background with all my hangups it was absolutely fantastic to experience the freedom we enjoyed in the evening celebration. Roll on this year, three in a row if the Lord will.
