The Great Global Warming Swindle
Did you see it last night? On channel 4. Finally some programme makers had the courage to challenge the "man's to blame for climate change" bandwagon. It knocked for six the idea that carbon dioxide emissions are caused by human activities. I am not suggesting that there aren't sincere people who have bought inti this notion lock stock and barrel but it is entirely without scientific proof. We have been sold a pup! It showed how that the carbon emissions follow climate change not the other way round.
One scientist said it was like ignoring your engine, your gearbox and focusing on your hubcap when the car breaks down. Yes the temperature has gone up a tiny bit but it's been like that for hundreds of years. It goes up and down.
This is a political agenda. Don't fall for it!
5 Comments:
I think perhaps Paul it is you have been swindled and fallen for the political agenda. What is taking place is a shrinking number of economically powerful industry players spending millions maintaining the illusion of "scientific uncertainty" of climate change. I would love to know where your scientists get their funding from!! This coincides with industralised nations refusal to acknowledge the effects ther current lifestyle is having on the environment and subsequently on some of the poorest parts of the world. Their determination to promote poorly backed up scientific evidence on the absence of climate change represents the greed and stubborness of the industrialised nations and their refusal to change current consumer patterns. Isn't it great living in Ireland that we might get to potentially enjoy the benefits of a warmer climate, I wonder if you asked those impacted by an increase in extreme weather conditions, floods, water shortages, increases in malaria or those who rely on rain for their crops what they thought of global warming, how they would reply? You are right when you say that the earths climate has always been warming but for the last 20 years this has been occuring 4 times faster than any rate in history. And if you are so convinced of the science you saw on channel 4 I am assuming you have read the ICCP reports and the Stern Report to name a few prominent reports on science of climate change. Perhaps if that is too much for you, you should watch an inconvenient truth. I think it is irresponsible as a Christian to simply bury your head in the sand and buy into the easier 'scientific' argument than acknowledge that we are partly (and largely) responsible for damaging God's planet. The sad truth is it can be changed but it is people like you who will prevent future generations enjoying a beautiful earth.

Paul,
You're scaring me now! There is relative consensus in the scientific media that climate change is most likely to be anthropogenic. This isn't based on politicans (although it appears to have become rather sexy in the political sphere atm) - its based on scientific study. Its nothing new - its just taken this long for politicians and the media to get interested.
In science everything is theory - nothing is accepted as fact - there is always more to learn. The media constantly exploit this debate and constantly misrepresent scientific research! Minority and even fringe positions are so often presented as an equal side of the debate - and while a scientist who ignores his/her doubters and opposition is a fool - we can't afford to be complacent about issues which such wide reaching and potentially catastrophic consequences as climate change.
Get back to us when you've digested as much information as you can about climate change - read the reports, read the research on both sides of the debate with a critical and thoughtful mind and then bring us a more reasoned conclusion based on something more than a channel 4 documentary!
If God created the world as you so adamantly believe - the don't you think we have some responsibility for caring it? Or perhaps you're hedging your bets on divine intervention to prevent the destruction of the planet, or the return of Jesus to swoop the believers up to pie in the sky when we die?
I'd rather be wrong about climate change (I hope to God I am) and consider my role in taking and encouraging steps to reduce CO2 emmissions and the impact of human activity on our planet than to think its nothing to do with me, and have my children and grandchildren discover how terribly terribly wrong I was.
Better to err on the side of caution. Or perhaps ignoring it makes life easier?

Hello Paul,
I agree with u. cimlate change is a bit questionable. I think man take genrally care of earth when he could. But too often it was use for hidden angendas. And i think man just really over statment themsleves to actually think they effect solar system earth asmophere etc when it in relaity smaller then they think. some exmaples.
Mars found to have cilmate warming.
a 16th century painting. Londonin waist deep in snow river thames that thick. so on the river of London back then, they used to hold market, stalls on ice vegtables foods carts on river thames.
Gulf War. saddam pruposly ruined Kewait`s seacoast with ballons of oil. people say it doomed. but within a decade it back to life triving no trace of oil.people help clean as earth need it but mainly it earth itself with uncandy abitly(God created) to clean itself.
Man overstated himself to think he got much effect on earth`s abitly. nature always got amazing abilty to be trivl despite what "evil" ruin it mistakely or not.
NOT impossible come to mind of this creation by God whatever man help or not whatever nature go overdose on it seasons.
cilamte changing. rather i think it more to do with sun then anything else comparing to centuries ago easy for people in their LIFETIME to say these things cosidering they didnt live to see, ot worse i might add, of seasons of nature centuries ago. I think `cilamte warming1 tend to be ur normal seasons only in gaps of decades or a 100, 200 years then it get unsettle seasons in some period of lifetime or 2 lifetimes then settle etc so on, judging history as facts.
why then, they said, this town never see flooding till 18 something(happened 2 lifetimes ago in 18th century.)
the desert is dry as bone never been till last recorded 17 0r 1900 or whatever few lifetimes ago.
put it in prestive. compare warming or cilmate change no0t just ur lifetime but by serveal lifestime ago in centuries or decades. EARTH got in it nature hope not complte defendless! and fixable ever itself without help of man.
finally, for the evils of world a sit unperfect, cruses lands seasons etc is to do with people`s morally attiude. Africa do well not by money. money do not go long way. Love by undestanding and eduction lasting in nations attuiude to what surrounding them. teaching of the basic good and how to of life is more then enough.
weather locally can be affeted by man bigger impact. but worldwide by whatever locally nations use, no, not much impact on worldwide weathers of other nations.
plus warming view certailly fix in certain ideal party that open door to say impose tax on weathly. travel, numbers of things to cut down. espacilly of west, a tiny bit marxist so west cut down or heavy impose to equal on poorer nations. God bless those as He see fit cruse those as he see through nations attuide alone. yes too simple but true. it nature in person or nation culture attuide morally bad attuite turn bad in visible around them.

Check out this link http://johnmcmullen.blogspot.com/2007/02/god-is-green.html for some recent debate on the subject!
My view is that saving energy is being a good steward (and keeps my bills down), but I'm much more concerned about other socio-political issues such as abortion as long-term the earth is heading for the lake of fire. Let's save as many souls and babies as we can before then....
