Ramblings of a Rockin’ Rev

Never mind the facts....

What I am trying to say is that there is a bandwagon regarding the causes of global warming which needs to be questioned. In the Channel 4 programme one of the contributors was a co-founder of Greenpeace. I doubt if the Americans were paying him off.
There are a significant number of scientists who while acknowledging the rising temperatures are questioning whether man is wholly responsible.
The programme also highlighted the plight of the developing world. Some African Nations are complaining that they are being forced by the developed nations to adopt "green" power which is expensive and wholly ineffective when related to a developing economy. They are being "discouraged" from building power stations which would be used to generate electricity which is needed to stop them remaining in the economic dark ages.
There are double standards being applied here. If man made carbon emissions are the cause of global warming then we need to put our own house in order before we force the developing world to act for us....that is if man made carbon emissions are the cause! If they are not then this is a trick to keep the developing world poor and us strong.

Indeed, concerns should raise questions for each of us as individuals as to how our lifestyles impact the planet, and perhaps more importantly, how we lobby our governments in the Western wealthy world to take serious action regardless of how unpopular it makes them (because lets be realistic, my buying energy efficiency lightbulbs, driving a bit less and recycling my cereal boxes isn't really going to sort this problem out).
