Help is at hand.
There are many aids to reading the Bible but my friend Gary adapted one he found. It is basically a "through the Bible in year guide." You read selected passages every day and it takes you through the Bible in a year, covering the Gospels twice. There are pages for you to make notes and it systematically takes you through the Bible in bite size chunks. He published it and sold it for cost. But the key for his church was that he encouraged people to get together for an hour a week to talk over what they had been reading about that week.
When I was with him in April I went to his weekly meeting with three other men [breakfast..it was the States]. I joined in the discussion as I know everything about the Bible! A great hour with great insights.
I am reproducing the Study Guide to coincide with a new series I am doing in the autumn on"The Disciplines." But I suspect the success of it will in getting people [especially men] to share together.
I have been doing it since April and I have read parts of the Bible I haven't read for years. It has been fantastic.

I have found it very difficult to get into regular reading of the bible, It is something I want to do, but wonder sometimes what is the point. We have a high profile Christian politician who seemed to cause more division in this country than anyone and yet, i'm quite sure he know's the bible very well. I have had personal experience's where I have been lied to and deceived into parting with money by christian's who were well knowen and preached God's word. I know what counts is my relationship with God, but...
