Ramblings of a Rockin’ Rev

We are fooling ourselves if we think...

that people who profess Christianity in the UK are reading their Bibles on a regular basis. Just read some interesting research that says only 27% of churchgoers read their Bible every week! The research was confined to England.
Is it just me or is that weird in light of what we profess to believe.
The most avid Bible readers are those in the New Churches, Independent Churches[largely Brethren and non affiliated] and the Pentecostal Churches.
Men and women read it almost equally as much each other.
Under 20s read it least of all while those in the 20-29 age group read it most, 30s -44 read it least.
The more frequently a person goes to Church the more frequently they are likely to read the Bible.
We have a problem Houston. Can we reverse the trend or has it always been like this? I don't know but how can we encourage people to read the Bible more? If people don't read their Bible what will happen to the Church of the future? More tomorrow.
