The Alpha course is a ten week practical introduction to the Christian faith. It is designed primarily for non-churchgoers and those who have recently become Christians. It was established at Holy Trinity Brompton twenty years ago and there are now more than 4000 Alpha courses all over the UK and overseas.
At CFC Strandtown Alpha courses take place twice a year in CFC – Autumn and Spring and they are run by John & Barbara Lander. They start off with an Alpha evening where, over a meal, you can come and hear what Alpha is about. Tickets for the meal cost £5 and are available on Sunday’s at the Information Desk or from the church office. Click HERE to find out when the next Alpha Evening will be held. The evening aims to give a flavour of what Alpha is all about and you will be given the opportunity to attend the 10-week course.
Further information on Alpha can be obtained from Peter Jordan 028 90674868 or peter@cfc-net.org
What is Involved?
The course runs one evening a week for 10 weeks and each evening comprises a talk, discussion time, questions arising and a supper aiming to finish at 10pm.
A key part of the course is the weekend half-way through the course.
Here Are Some of The Topics Covered...
2. Why Did Jesus Die?
3. How Can I be Sure of My Faith?
4. Why and How Should I Read the Bible?
Alpha Plus
Designed to bridge the gap between Alpha and “church”, Alpha Plus is a 6 week series of talks (plus Encounter—a non-residential weekend) run by Ronnie & Wilma Irvine to help participants learn and grow in their new found faith. All participants must have attended an Alpha Course. The course will run on 8 consecutive nights starting Monday 23 January 2006 and the Encounter weekend starts Friday evening 17 and all day Saturday 18 February 2006.
