PRAYER RESOURCE POINTS
Want to pray but not sure where to start or what to pray for? Don’t panic, below are some suggestions on what you can pray for, spend about 3-4 minutes on each item and before you know it you will have prayed for 20-25 minutes!! Remember, that when we come to pray we are speaking to our heavenly Father, He just loves to hear us talk with Him and wants to answer our prayers. So here we go it’s time to pray!!
Activity 1:
Meditate
Read psalm 145. Spend time thanking God for what He has done for you. Verse 5 says to meditate on God’s wonderful works, allow yourself time and peace to think about what this verse means. Use this time if you want to write or draw your response to God.
Activity 2:
Praying for your friends
Write down the names of your friends. Ask God that to protect them from attacks of the enemy, that they will grow in their faith. Pray for their witness in school, work, family etc. pray the words of Colossians 1 v 9-11, into their lives.
Activity 3:
Pray for your leaders
Take time to pray for each of the leaders in your youth group or Church. Again ask God to bless them and importantly protect and guide them as they seek God’s direction
Activity 4:
Praying for Belfast
Ask God to come and bless Belfast once again. Read the words of the prophet Jeremiah in Lamentations 1 v 1 & 2 v 11. Here he CRIED to God because Jerusalem had walked away from God and was being punished. Think how Belfast has moved away from doing what God wants. Ask God to forgive us and to restore our city again. Pray for your communities and schools.
Activity 5:
Praying for your unsaved friends and family
Ask God for opportunities to speak to your friends about Jesus. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you boldness to speak out.
Activity 6:
Personal needs
Jesus says in Matthew 7 v 7, that the Father will give good gifts to those that who ask Him. Come confidently to Him knowing that He wants to bless you and give you those things that are helpful for building you up in your Christian life.
Activity 7:
Soaking up His presence
Don’t rush out into the street before you have given God time to speak to you. Remember that prayer is communication and is a two-way thing. Try to clear your mind and ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you. It may be through a bible verse that you feel you should read, or a picture that comes into your mind or a voice that speaks clearly to you. You should keep a note of what comes out of this time so that you can build on it as you learn to listen to the Holy Spirit's voice.
